Brodyn turned 8yrs old. What a monumental birthday this year brought for him and for us! I look back 8yrs ago and wish the years would not go by so quickly! Holding this little boy for the first time was so life changing for me, and never in my wildest thoughts did I imagine what life would be like 8yrs down the road. It is so emotional for me as I look back and then realize that now in 10 short years I may be sending him on a mission. What an amazing little boy this little 8yr old is and what a special little spirit he has!
This birthday was actually a pretty big deal for us. This is the very first attempt we have made in inviting friends over for the big day and really doing a party! We had a small get together with family on January 9th and then had his big "NERF" party the following Saturday! We made some simple invites on the computer and then I texted a few friends and family about the event. Brody was so excited to hand them out at school!! I was so excited a few friends from school were able to come! Events like this give me a little anxiety because they are always accompanied by more planning then you expect and you cross your fingers the entire time hoping things turn out perfectly. The big day arrived we had gathered up as many cardboard boxes we could find in all sizes the bigger the better. I let Brodyn arrange them how he liked into forts, shelters and hide outs! I didn't really help at all he did a great job! Grandma Thatcher and Stephanie came along to help which eased my anxiety! We set tables on their sides to give the kids more places to sneak behind, turned on the music and let the kids go at it with very little rules and they had a blast!! It was such a success Brodyn was grinning from ear to ear. There was chaos everywhere but that just made the boys have even more fun! Dan had a scout camp over the night before and made it just on time for the party to start which brought me ample relief, because he was the brains behind the rules and helped to referee!! I was able to sit back and watch the fun!
