Bees!

Here is Brody goofing around after dad was out tending to the bees!  One of our hives out back got a little big, so they swarmed to the nearest tree!  Dan was able to gather them all back up and start up another hive, which is great!  We got 15 gallons of honey this year, yum yum!  We harvested this year in our garage.  It was hard keeping the bees out long enough to extract all the honey from their honey comb racks.  We had to plug the holes around the garage door with towels to keep them from coming in.  Dan was swatting and vacuuming them with the shop-vac.  Emmy was so distraught and upset they were killing the bees.  Dan has taught her that bee's aren't scary but nice and helpful.  She just loves the bees and she came running in with big tears in her eyes and told me they were killing and vacuuming them up.  She said..."All they want is their honey and they've worked so hard to make it, and daddy's just killing them!"  It was too cute!  Later that evening when the bees had returned to their hives, she ran out to the garage and opened the shop-vac to release all the bees so they could fly home!
